RISING FLIGHT FARES: STOP ATTACKING BUSINESSES AND FACE REALITY

VDM has reacted strongly to the growing outrage over increased flight prices in Nigeria, making it clear that many of the complaints are rooted in entitlement, not logic.

According to him, he recently experienced the situation firsthand. His flight from Abuja to Adamawa cost ₦300,000. Returning from Adamawa back to Abuja cost another ₦300,000, while connecting onward to Lagos cost ₦280,000. In total, nearly ₦900,000 was spent on flights alone — excluding another return trip back to Abuja.

VDM emphasized that airlines are private businesses, not social welfare schemes. If an airline adjusts prices due to fuel costs, maintenance, logistics, exchange rates, or demand, that decision is entirely theirs.

He warned Nigerians to stop trying to destroy businesses simply because they can no longer afford certain services. Calling for government intervention or price regulation, according to him, is nothing more than an attempt to pull others down.

Affordability, he stressed, is personal. If someone cannot afford a flight ticket, there are alternative means of transportation. Inability to pay does not give anyone the right to sabotage a business.

VDM also pointed out that some of the outrage is driven by tribal sentiment and envy — people attacking businesses simply because they dislike who owns them or who is succeeding.

“If you think the price is wrong — start your own airline.”

He made it clear that price control is not the solution and government should not interfere in private pricing structures.

His message was direct: stop ruining businesses, stop weaponizing public outrage, and accept economic realities.
